Photo Study – Tokyo Tease – Burlesque Balloon Dance

This was a shot I caught of a lovely burlesque performer called Tokyo Tease as she began a traditional balloon dance at a venue then called The Voodoo Lounge (previously known as Bookbinders) in Manchester, just before Halloween in 2009. The witch’s hat was added for Halloween, while the balloons were there to be popped one by one to reveal more of the dancer from underneath. It’s surprising that some of the adult audience get frightened by the sound of balloons popping. Some balloon dancers fill the balloons with glitter so it sprays everywhere, which can be tricky to sweep up afterwards. Arthur Chappell
