Cleaning/Clearing closets!

In my quest to get the house (mostly) cleared of "stuff", I decided to tackle a couple of closets. I knew there were a lot of my husband's things in one of them, and that's been one I've been avoiding, because I knew my heart would break all over again. But today I was determined. I set a timer for one hour. I got a huge bin in which to put things I'm donating, and I brought up a garbage bag for things to toss. Whatever I was going to keep went on top of a table for me to bring into my bedroom and put away. In that hour, I filled up the donation bin with clothes, an old (but great condition) table top Christmas tree and ornaments. I filled up the garbage bag with junk that's been sitting around too long. I only kept 4 things. One that was my husband's and the others were clothes of mine that I'd completely forgotten about. They still fit, so they are keepers! I brought the garbage down and I'm relaxing a bit before I tackle something else. The timer is a life saver. I don't have to worry I'll spend all day, and in an hour I got a lot more done than I'd ever imagined! And I stayed out of my bedroom because I want to take a nap more than I can tell you! lol What are you up to today? -Claudia-

I am up to nothing much my friend , sorry to be a bore, but it is Sunday and I have made this a day of rest..habit I guess. But that wont stop me if I suddenly get the urge to tidy up something I should be doing instead It is good you are clearing..it feels so good to do so and when it is done also.

Thats nice that you are donating that stuff. I am sure someone will be very fortunate to receive it. Does it feel like a burden has lightened at all? Its hard to get rid of things with sentimental value so I cant even imagine. Good job.

There is so much involved with this. I don't feel lighter yet. I think that day will come at some point in the future. I saved a lot of my husband's clothes to make into a blanket, and those are the ones with more sentimental value to me. The ones in this particular closet hadn't even been looked at in years. I'm so glad that someone will be able to use them.

You did very well, and yes the timer is a life saver. I use one all the time, even for when I am here.

What a productive hour you've spent. I find it really helpful to set a timer too - or else just resolve to do one cupboard or one drawer rather than a huge amount.
