Windows 10 Problems

When I switched on my computer today I found that the Start Menu was no longer working and that right clicking on some of the icons locked to the taskbar wasn't working either.
On investigation I discovered that this is quite a common problem, so I set about trying to find a solution. One site suggested a quick scan, which found no problems. Before trying something more I decided to restart my computer and, thankfully, everything was working properly again, so hopefully the issue has been solved. I hate messing around with things I don't really understand.
Are you using Windows 10? Have you encountered this issue, or any other problems that didn't occur with earlier versions of Windows?

Thanks @crazyhorseladycx . I got tired of all the reminders, so I decided to get the update out of the way. I hope I'm not going to regret it.

@crazyhorseladycx The trouble is sooner or later Windows drop support for older versions and I really wouldn't want to find myself in a situation where I needed to pay for Windows 10 later on. Hopefully what happened was just a one-off glitch and everything will work from now on.

All that you encountered was no doubt a glitch and the computer did not fully finish loading. The start menu issue applied to an early build of Windows 10 and was solved months before the operating system was released to the public.

@Gina145 It must be 12 months since I last experienced that problem with Windows 10 and it has given me no problems since it was officially released.
Of course there are so many possible combinations of hardware and software that millions of people could encounter different scenarios.

I don't have Win10, but this kind of thing happens a lot with any number of OSes that you can find.
Most of the time the computer just needs to be restarted, especially if it had been on for several days in a row.

@Gina145 you may have to do a factory restore. It will backtrack the system to before you had problems.

@TheDemonicAngel Hopefully that won't be necessary. Everything has been fine since I ran that scan.

I never leave my computer on overnight or when I'm not home, so that's not the problem. This problem started when I switched on my computer yesterday. I know computers do weird things every now and then, so I would have thought a restart might work if it hadn't happened twice in one day.

I have no intention of using Windows 10. I had my son fiddle with my computer so I couldn't be forced into an upgrade from 7.

@KuznVinny I guess I'm in the minority but I didn't mind 8.1. I'm actually missing some of its features right now, but I guess that's just because I need to learn where everything is.

@Gina145 Well, one thing's for sure. 10 can't be worse than 8! My son tells me there are situations in which a computer can be purchased without either. You can bet I'll be putting it off at the very least. Maybe a new machine starting from scratch with 10 would do the trick, but not any upgrade.

@Gina145 Maybe you are better than average at small device interfaces, which 8 was designed to resemble.
