This internet company I am currently with has thrown me for so many curveballs. Ive had 3 2 hour long appointments with techs to see why the internet doesnt work at all at my home. Finally, my last visit today explained why I get no signal. A tower or "node" that I was getting signal off before had been deactivated a month or so prior. And now there is no tower/node close enough to get us any signal.
HOWEVER There is construction in the works ofputting one of these signal-nodes up about a block from where I live in about "a month or so" the tech says. Tech says he is 90% sure with this new tower thing, Ill be able to get signal.
So here is where my dillemma is. Do I wait a MONTH with no internet at home and try to see if this new tower will possibly make the internet work? Or do I cancel tomorrow and sign up for Comcast Xfinity where I have a guaranteed and probably much more reliable internet connection?
Decisiona decisions. A month is a long time with no internet, especially as an online earner. I am only able to access MyLot on my phone and a few sites sporadically when I have down time at work .... So i feel like I am losing on the deal.
What would you do?

Check for the best deal that Comcast can offer you. I once had just internet and phone. It was a really good deal. I think about $60 a month. That was about 6 years ago though.

Thanks for the time you took to read that mess - I realize it was long. This is also what I am thinking about. Because its a sure thing and Im sure they would get over and install it Asap I just am scared about getting hooked into something I didnt want!

@maezee and not to mention that you really can't be certain that the quality of the service may not be as they make it out to be.
I got hooked into a service for telephone many years ago. The quality was not great. Sounded like you were talking into a tin can. Thankfully there was no contract to deal with.

@ElusiveButterfly that is awful. The service is just so cheap. Like $12 a month but when it used to work...very spotty coverage. :-(

if you work at home, id suggest go check Comcast. i hope too that comcast has many masts/nodes in your area to avoid your current situation.
im sorry youre going through that. if its the mast that youre having problems with, theres really nothing that they can do at the moment. and as much as i want to believe that its just a month, ive had dealings with customers who patiently waited for more than 3mos.

I think you can cancel the service, sign up with the other one, and a few months later, you can switch back.
You probably will get more incentives in this way.
Both sides will count you as a new customer, and everyone knows that new customer gets more freebies than the loyal ones.

The fact they didn't notify you alone. That is ridiculous like you should know that.

Do what you think makes you comfortable, I'm sorry this is something you can decide for yourself. but i wonder why you're so uncomfortable having a 12 months contract with comcast? I mean isn't that better than no internet for a months? I just wonder.

To be honest I'm not sure:/, here our internet is very limited as well, a person either has to use dial up on phone lines which don't work half the time even as far as dial up goes, or get a wifi hub with limited use-it's horribly frustrating and I can understand this must be a very large hastle for you, I hope you can find resolution for it soon:/
