My thought on pillows

How often do you buy pillow? I do not have a habit of buying new pillows every year. One of my relatives has this habit to buy new pillows and bolsters for her family before Chinese New Year. I buy new pillow only when my existing pillow is so flat that it is almost like a piece of cloth. That is why I have a shock when I see that some pillows cost more than a hundred dollars. I cannot imagine why anyone wants to spend so much for a single pillow. If they are having problem sleeping, they should look into their lifestyle. Those laborers can sleep so well despite having a low salary and using the cheapest pillow. In the end, I buy a pillow that cost less than ten dollars. Image credit to adlakhahandloom.blogspot.sg/

We don't have such tradition to buy new pillows every year too. I wonder what your relative would do with the old pillows, I suppose they are still usable since they are only one-year-old. Same as you, I usually buy a new pillow when it's really flat. I can't remember how long ago since I bought my pillow.

@scheng1 I wouldn't let others throw away my love pillow as well. I have a pillow that has been with me for years, and it's totally flat. My mom once wanted to throw it away, and I protested for it. So, I would never throw my children's pillows.

I think your children will not allow you to throw away their old pillows too. They will probably cry if you even suggest that you buy new pillows for them, and throw away the old one. I did bought one pillow to replace the flat one a year ago, and that was a cheap one.

i sleep two pillows high, and one each on both sides. My pillows are from Kuwait, and they are feather-filled pillows.

@ridingbet how do you manage to get the pillows from Kuwait? I bet you can sell them for a lot of money if these are new.

@cacay1 Same here. I may not need so many pillows to sleep (since I can sleep in hotel), but I like to have 4 pillows.

I buy pillow cases more frequently than pillows. After all, I wash them every week, and the colors fade since I dry them under the strong sun.

@scheng1 after all, its the pillowcases that attracts us to use them.. well sometimes

The last time I bought a pillow was 2 years ago when I moved here in Australia and since I was stingy I started out with a 5 dollar pillow. But I have to say it was very uncomfortable so I had to buy a decent one that cost 15 dollars. It's softer and lasts longer. I don't intend to buy something that's over a hundred though. I could already buy a decent comforter with that price.

I have never seen a pillow that cost less than ten dollars. I normally buy pillows that cost from ten to twenty dollars. These are the ones that are very comfortable, but will become flatter and flatter.

I have recently been on a pillow buying spree only because I have been having terrible neck aches. I have one pillow that cost 169 dollars but I got it for 20 so not bad. Another that cost around 50 bucks. And here is the kicker, I decided to buy the cheapest one I could find, cost 2.38 and it's the one that doesn't give me a neck ache so cheap is the way to go for me.

Wow, I have never come across a pillow that is so cheap. I think if you had bought the cheap one first, you will not spend $70 on two other pillows.

I also will not buy a pillow so often. I am a person who doesn't like wasting. I know today the pillow can be quite expensive. They claim that they have many cool features. I think most of them are the exaggeration of selling. After all, it is just a pillow. A qualified pillow can be good enough.

I do not like to waste too. i wash my pillow covers every week, and I think that is good enough. No point buying a new pillow every year, and buy new pillow covers too.

The only time i buy new pillows is if mine go flat and are not comfortable anymore. I use mine pretty much until they wear out just like everything else i own.

Yes, same here. I do not want to throw a perfectly comfortable pillow. Somehow new pillows take a few weeks to get comfortable.

I buy as cheap as possible. I think there is no need to buy expensive one. I can generally sleep well if I am tired enough.

I do the same. I don't buy pillows until the ones i own become useless. To do away with the bacteria that harbours in my pillows, I just put them under the sun for a couple of hours.

My bed gets direct sunlight so i do not have to put the pillow under the sun for hours. I wash the pillow covers every week though.

$100 for a pillow is too costly. I don't buy pillows often. Just like you I buy them when it becomes too flat.

I agree. It is definitely very costly to pay $100 or more for a pillow. i will buy a much cheaper one, though not always the cheapest one.

I think after you have gone out to play football with your friends, you can sleep very well even if you do not have your pillows. ! do not think expensive pillows will help you in your sleep.

Me too, I will buy pillows when I really need them or when my pillows are ruin already. Good thing my pillows last for long now, I don't need to buy some.

I think pillows can last a long time even if it is a cheap one. They can definitely last longer than a year. There is no need to buy new pillows every year.

My pillows cost less than P300 or less than $10 also and I also don't buy often. My last pillow I bought is already 10 year old.

Wow, you sure keep a pillow for a long time. How do you take care of your pillows? Do you put them under the direct sun often?

I never spent over a hundred for a single pillow. I just bought a bunch of calvin klein pillows originally $40 on sale for like $10 with coupons. We bought 2. We normally replace pillows 2-3 years maybe. But we also buy some better quality gel ones too. I like having a lot of pillows.

I like having a lot of pillows too. i have never checked the price of pillows, since I seldom buy and when I need a pillow, I will buy a cheap one. As I am willing to pay less than $20, there is really no need to keep track of the sale.

I only buy new pillows when the old ones get really flat and/or soiled. I always use a pillow protector so they last a bit longer.

I have not bought regular pillows or had a picture put on a pillow in awhile now.
