I once have a student who does not have any motivation to study. No matter how hard his parents and teachers encourage him to study he is not listening. When I talked to him about it, he answered that he does not want to study anymore. That all he just want is to be a tricycle driver. He wants to have his own money soon that he forgot that education is they key to be successful in life. It is easy to quit school, but what will be life after that especially if you do not know how to read or do simple calculations?
It is easier to lie down on bed all day but how will you survive the day?
It is easy to just depend on our parents for money and food, but how about when they are gone?
Do what is easy and your life will be hard or do what is hard and your life will be easy.

I have realized that the success of a child does not depend on the institution where he studied. I am a product of public schools from my primary education up to my tertiary. Many said that if parents can afford to send their kids to private schools then it is much better. They said that students in public schools are too many that teachers cannot teach effectively. But we were not rich and all I want is to finish my study so I did not care about what they said about teachers in public school.I think if a student has a determination to succeed in life, the initiative must spring forth on her own. He is the captain of his life and he is the one who is most responsible for its outcome.

@annierose That's so true. Every year we read of scholars who have achieved amazing results while living in dire poverty. Some of them even have to study by candle light.

@Gina145 I hope that the young generation will be able to realize how important it is to experience hardships so that they will know the taste of real success and not just depend on their parents or someone for a good life.

And that is totally true. When I was very young, our parents would assign specific tasks to me and my siblings. My mom taught us that money is hard earned and shouldn't be spent easily. She taught us the value of saving and earning. We lost both our parents when i was just 13 and we survived. One sister is a doctor, the other is a nurse. Eldest brother because a successful businessman, the other brother is in business and a public administrator. And I, the youngest, has my own company to run.

When I was young, I envy other kids whose parents were able to give them all they wanted. How I wish I were born with a silver spoon. It does not mean that I hate my parents. It was just I envy those rich kids or even ordinary kids with parents that were not strict. As I grew up, I realized how lucky I was that time. My parents taught me how to work hard and to know the value of hard working. As of now, I am already a professional and I will be forever thankful with my parents.

@annierose There's always a reason why we go through things. God knows everything and as long as we do what's right and do not harm others, hard work will be rewarded. You've been blessed.

Are you a teacher?
I used to hate going to school when I was a child. I always stop schooling after every school year. For example, if I finished the first grade this year I won't go to school the next year and I will just take my second grade the next next school year. I never even studied grades 5 and six. I just take an exam so that I will be accelerated to High School. I didn't go to High School right after I passed the test. So my parents enrolled me at Home School Program. I finished high school just in our house.
You know what's ironic? I studied Education in College. And yes I am a teacher. The used to be a school hater became a teacher.

It was not the profession I dreamed of but because my aim is to travel, I decided to take up Education to help me achieve my utmost dream. As years go by, I fell in love with the teaching profession. I love my students and I love it when I am able to inspire them to study harder and dream bigger.

wow, you're probably a quick learner to be able to skip so many grades. i guess your 'schooling' experience helps you motivate students when they're discouraged or feeling lazy.

It is difficult to appreciate the money especially if it was not a product of our sweat. Kids just buy this and buy that and does not care how long it take for their parents to earn such amount. And sometimes there are also parents who does not want their kids to be disciplined when it comes to spending.

Thank you. My parents always think of my future and my old age. When they think I have been spending much they remind me that I must save also. It is difficult to fight temptations and I have been doing my best to think twice and thrice before I spend money.

It is good that you still remember it. I use it to encourage myself too especially when I feel like quitting. Here in mylot, I have to work hard not just to earn money but also to develop my social skills and writing skills.
