3 Years This Month...

Three years ago this month I have been smoke free!! Yeah, I finally decided to quit smoking, I had quit each time I was pregnant and would quit at different other times, only to start smoking again. So, the month before my 50 birthday, I quit. I was a pack a day smoker. I had got to where I was only smoking half a a pack a day, some times not even that. I really wanted to quit this time and not return to the habit. I would be turning 50 and I wanted to see my grandchildren grow up. So, one day, the cigarettes were making me sick even though I "thought" I needed one. After a few days of that I just quit. Haven't had a cigarette since then. I don't even crave them anymore, sometimes it still makes me sick if I'm around some one who smokes. I'm pretty proud of myself!! ~Peace~ photo courtesy of

Congratulations! I am an ex smoker too, it's been 10 months since I decided to quit. You must have very strong will to actually quit. I have friends who decide to smoke less but they can't stop smoking completely.

@STOUTjodee Right now, I am very certain that I won't start this addictive habit again. But you can never know, it's usually a moment of weakness (or too much confidence) when we may think that smoking once more wouldn't bring us back to the habit.

I applaud you for being able to quit smoking. I never smoked but understand how addicting it is and how hard it is to quit

Thanks @Marilynda1225! I know what my husband had to experience being a "non-smoker." I certainly apologized to him for him having to put up with a smoker!!

Congrats! I never smoked but I know many that have and I know from seeing what they went through it's not an easy thing to quit.

And you should be SUPER proud of yourself. I am sure it is not an easy thing to do to quit smoking. I never smoked.

Well done to you, I hope you never start again. My sister stopped for 5 years then started again, silly woman.
