So even though I'm a nurse I work as a patient care assistant sometimes for extra bucks. There's a cleaning lady who was bossing me around today and literally barking orders at me like I'm her slave or maid.
I don't mind being ordered I'm happy to work and to help. But it's just annoying how people treat you badly because you work for an agency and you're below their rank. She could at least order me nicely. Is it so much effort to be nice?
A fellow Filipino nurse who was my friend was telling me in our dialect, "Okay boss her around. Watch out when she's the nurse she'll boss you around too. Karma."
Although I don't intend to get revenge I do feel consoled that at least my friend is trying to make me feel better despite the situation.

I am confused. How is it that you are below her rank? She is a cleaning lady and you are a nurse.

Aside from being a nurse, she sometimes work as a patient care assistant for extra bucks. That's how I understand her discussion @ScribbledAdNauseum

I'm not working as a nurse today I'm working as a Patient Care Assistant. So I'm on my PCA uniform and I don't work for the hospital I work for the agency so I'm an outsider basically covering for a sick or absent insider. So she's thinking I'm below her rank me being an agency PCA staff.
If I was an agency nurse like what I usually do she might have treated me nicely and with more respect.

@Macarrosel I understood that as well but both titles would be above the pay grade of a maid, would it not?

I would side step that woman as I would literally bark her face off.

@TiarasOceanView I really envy that "don't mess with me" attitude. I am yet to grow some horns just so I don't get bullied.

I think she's just being insecure, probably she already has a hint on the educational attainment of those working for the agency compared to hers so she's trying to reassure herself that she's higher in rank by acting that way.

Work is hard. Most of the time we do what others want. That is why we get paid. But you must be feeling bad. Don't worry it happens to all of us. By the way, did you finish your school work? Sorry if I seem to be pestering you or something.

I felt bad of course. I believe every job is decent and good as long as it's legal and clean. We must treat each other with respect no matter what rank we are. I don't see why she needs to act so superior when the higher ranks aren't even acting as badly as she was.

Your friend is right in one aspect.
We never know about our future and the future of others.
Sometimes the lowliest person in the company becomes the boss!
It happens rarely but it does happen.
Sometimes the big boss listens to the lowliest person in the company, and sacks those who are rude to him.

That's true. Anything can happen so we should be kind to the people we meet.
