How would you feel?

Say your father and stepmother go on vacation. They leave, and the next day you get on Facebook. You see a picture of your sister, brother-in-law, and niece in their car with the caption being "Headed out for vacation". You didn't know they were going on vacation. You get a sick feeling and look to see where the location of the last post was written. It's in the same city your father and stepmother are in for their vacation. How do you feel? Luckily, later you find things aren't exactly as you thought, but you're still seeing photos of the show they went to together along with photos at dinner. Your first guess to the situation was half right.

I'd probably wonder why I wasn't invited and I'd be a bit upset I think.

Was your sister invited or did she crash the vacation? If she was invited I"d be really angry and really depressed. If she crashed the vacation I'd probably still feel a bit left out but not quite as much.

I still have to write about what happened when I asked my dad about it, but you're on the right track. My dad just figured I'd never know. He forgot my sister and BIL Facebook everything.

@AmbiePam Ugh, I think I'd be pretty ticked if I was your dad and step mom.. they deserve a vacation to themselves.

Oh dear my poor dear Ambie..I know somewhat of this sort of feeling..it is rotten and highly frustrating too. It makes you feel as if they are aliens and that you are the only sane one.

I would feel left out and very hurt, but would certainly ask them why you weren't asked. There may be a genuine reason.

First I would be angry for not being included in the vacation. Once I found it wasn't a planned vacation for one of them to go to the same place, then I would be mollified a little, but still wondering why nobody said anything about all their vacation plans. So I can see why you were a bit upset by it all.

That's a tough one to respond to appropriately. I think I'd be hurt that I hadn't been invited.

I'll probably feel pissed as well but the thing would pass after a day or two. Getting invited would be nice although that doesn't mean that I'll go and join them.

I'd probably be upset. I'd wonder why I didn't know, or why I wasn't invited. I'd be hurt for sure.

Ah, pictures and FaceBook...no one will ever know!! But there is always some one out there that will post pictures of anything not "thinking" people will see it. Have kind of been in a similar situation, but was still happy for them!! Maybe your father never thought "you" would find out about it, but like I said there is FaceBook!!

That is really hurtful, and I am sorry that this is going on, especially at this time of the year, so close to your Mom's anniversary. On the other hand, I'm glad that you are not so full of this ugly sort of activity. Please don't ever get like that, that is what I tell myself, my brothers and my mother got like that after my Dad passed.

I'm sorry that you weren't included in their plans, they could at least have told you what they were doing, without you having to find out via Facebook.

Of course I would feel a bit sad and jealous. How come they did not even include me in the vacation. Or maybe to know the truth, I will ask my mother directly to know the real score.
