I learned from TV that lately in Singapore people can use NFC from their smartphone and pay for the transportation. I like this feature. Actually here we also try to adapt this method. At least I know in Beijing it is still trying to make it work better. Since there are many models of the smartphones and each of the hard ware will be a little different. And this is why it is still not so easy to spread this NFC payment method. Last time I didn't return the transportation cards since I thought I would use it again next time when I travel to Singapore. Perhaps next time I shall try its NFC payment

What is NFC? Is it like a credit card?

Near field communication (NFC) is a set of communication protocols that enable two electronic devices, one of which is usually a portable device such as a smartphone, to establish communication by bringing them within 4 cm (2 in) of each other.

I think that people can pay using an app here too, but I am not sure.

I think Singapore has a very good system in transportation. Their implementation is well too. Maybe it is because their government has a good performance.
