Have you ever wondered how wine gets into the bottles at wineries? I had my first experience today watching the process. My neighbor had invited me to come watch his wine get bottled several years ago, but he invited me so far ahead I somehow forgot to go. Another winery told me the truck was coming there the next day, but when I go there, they had rescheduled because of rain. I got to see the process accidentally today. I stopped by to photograph a winery and it was closed because the bottling truck was there. I parked in the lot and they said I could watch and take pictures. I now have a lot of video I need to edit for a blog post one of these days. I show you the back of the bottling truck because it's really the best view. The truck is so narrow I had to take all photos from the outside so I wouldn't be in the way of the people who were working. I often wonder how many people would drink wine if they could see it being processed. It's a good thing that alcohol kills germs. The view you see here shows the conveyor that sends the newly bottled crates of wine down for labeling.

We have many wineries in the area, this is not the bottling season, but in Autumn passing in front of them I see the bottling process.

 Castoro Cellars Grapes in September
We harvest in autumn here in California and bottle in late winter or spring. This photo was taken at Castoro Cellars in September not long before harvest.

@LadyDuck Thanks for teaching me something I didn't know. That explains why the bottling truck comes during more than one season.
