Challenge: 10 Things About Me

I read this challenge from @tammys85 and I think it'd be fun to join the challenge. It seems like it was started by @carebear29. Here are 10 things about me: 1. I am 37 years old. I always like my birth date - 13.5.79, that's why my username is with the number 135. It's actually one of my primary classmate told me about this, I didn't find it out myself. 2. I have a 7yo boy and a 4yo girl, and another baby boy joining us in the coming May. 3. I quit my office job and became a freelance programmer since 5 years ago, because I wanted to take care of my children. I really enjoy being a work-from-home mom as I can spend more time with my children. 4. I have a supportive husband, and we have known each other for more than 20 years as he was my high school classmate. Our 10th wedding anniversary is in the coming May, too! (My birthday, my baby's birthday and our anniversary!) I always forgot about the anniversary. 5. I am a Malaysia Chinese. My first language is Chinese, and I usually communicate with others in Mandarin (Chinese) as well. We have to learn English and Malay language since we were young as well. 6. I homeschool my children, my son just started his first grade lesson. I am trying to apply Waldorf education approach, but also include everything that fits my children and family as well. 7. I started to learn to do more things with my hands as I'd like to teach my children in these few years. I learned to knit, crochet, sew, and I like to make toys for my children. Craft making has become a hobby to me. 8. I am very contented with my life now, though there are always challenges, I am happy to learn to face and solve them. I really enjoy being a wife, a mother, a work-from-home staff, a craft-maker perhaps. 9. I think I am stubborn. I always do what I think is right or feel comfortable with, even though it's not followed by majority, of course it has to be no harmful to other people or the earth, and it is not disturbing others as well. I always think it's my life, I should respect myself (and of course others). I teach the same to my son as well. What majority is doing might not be right, so we should not be afraid of doing something different as long as we know what we are doing, such as homeschooling, quitting the permanent and good paying job, etc. 10. I am striving to be a more mindful, joyful and peaceful mother or person. This is what I really love to learn and want to be. I thought it might not be easy to write 10 things about me, and I ended up writing so much. I wanted to add another - I am too talkative, though I am trying to cut it short always. Sorry for the long post. Would you like to join the challenge, and write 10 things about you?

I like to hear that people are stubborn. Sounds like you have a very good life. Being more mindful and looking at life from that standpoint is very good for a person.

Thanks! Though some said it's not good to be stubborn, I found that it's always good to stand on our own point, as long as it doesn't affect others, we should make our own choice. Yes, I am really glad I have chosen the right path or the path I want to walk, and then I feel more contented now.

@kaka135 ....If you are stubborn about negative things it isn't productive.

@DaintyD Sometimes we are just not so mindful, hence when writing down, we tend to understand better.

I didn't know I wrote this much until I posted it here. Glad to know your two sons are already so big now, it must be easier for you to take care of them now, but is teenager a bit more challenging to you? I have heard a lot about teenagers, and I know when I was a teenager, my mom was having lots of headaches.

@Sreekala I have always been hearing from other mothers about taking care of the children's studies is the most tiring job. I guess nowadays it has changed so much. When we were young, we used to just study on our own, and our parents couldn't really teach us much. But nowadays, it seems like the parents are more tiring and need to be more hardworking as well.

Thanks! I am very thankful to these writings sites, as writing and reading much really helps me to improve my English. These are really not what I learned from school. Actually I always have hard time reading others' discussions, especially some jokes, I just couldn't get it.

I see that your birthday is in May and your third child is due in May as well. I wonder how close to your birthday the baby will arrive. With my first child she was born on May 21st. My sisters birthday is May 25. My son was due in November but he arrived on October 18th. My late husbands birthday was October 1st. Funny how they both arrived around others birthdays.

I am not too sure how close it will be, it will be perhaps at least a week different. Mine will be scheduled c-section, but I have not pick the date yet. My first two were forced c-sections, so I can't choose to have natural birth for this third baby. My husband's birthday is also in May, which is just 5 days earlier than mine. May is always a little bit special to us.

oh I almost read I have "7 boys" and "4 girls".. I don't have children, so I can't offer any experience as a parent. Though I do feel, there are some values in going to schools. This is where the children first learn their "social difficulty handling skills" or having to deal with unpleasant people outside their protective environment. It is also where they will most likely to learn to "handle complex social situations" themselves, like form friendships, make enemies, compete with each, team work, learn to lead, learn to cooperate with people you don't like, and learn to deal with other people's perception of you" all of these are what I've learned in school, and it's way more important than the knowledge it has given me.

Though sometimes I wish I can have more children, I definitely won't have that many. I understand and value your points about kids going to school. I loved going to school when I was young. But nowadays, public schools in my country can be quite different, the kids might not be able to learn these skills in school. Moreover, there are always many organizations and activities outside the school that the children can take part and they might even learn much more from there. One of the reasons I'd like to homeschool my children is that, nowadays most schools just focus on academic studies, that's not the most important to me, I'd like them to learn more life skills or social skills that you mentioned as well.

I didn't expect I'd write that long. I'd like to get a picture of myself, and I haven't find any pictures of myself so far. I feel like I haven't been taking pictures for quite some time. I will need to go and dig for a picture soon.

Sometimes I think when we write about ourselves, and what others write about us, will be completely different. Many people do not say that they are stubborn but others will find that they are stubborn.

Yes, I think it can be really different. It'd be quite interesting to know what others think about me, but I also wonder who really understands me well, except my husband. I always know I am very stubborn since I was young, and I didn't think it's a bad thing, I just think I have my own opinions, and I'd like to stand firm on them. I can compromise with others, especially when it's related to the whole team or other people, I don't like to force others to follow my way.
