A Morning With John Denver

Last night K prepared a quiche for us to have for supper tonight. I had dinner waiting for her last night when she got home from work.
There were only a few eggs left in the carton and the best by date is today so K informed me I needed to make myself some eggs for breakfast this morning. As was commanded by She Who Must Be Obeyed, I made myself an omelet for breakfast. If I do say so myself, it turned out rather well considering it has been some time since I made an omelet.
While I was eating my delicious omelet (my compliments to the chef, lol) I was reading comments on my ...Bird...is a Ham... discussion and one or two of the comments mentioned how the reader wished they could be a bird for a time. Those comments put me in mind of the John Denver song "The Eagle and The Hawk."
Listening to that song on YouTube brought up a list of John's other songs that basically defined my junior high and high school years. From "Rocky Mountain High" to "Country Roads" to "Sunshine on my Shoulders," John sang songs that prompted my imagination, fueled my wanderlust, and taught me what love should feel like.
John is one of the few artists whom I've been to see in concert. That was a long time ago now. The day I got the news of his untimely death was one of the saddest days of my life.
So this morning I'm sitting here listening to John's songs, and feeling the hole left behind by his loss and grateful that we still have his music.
Are you a John Denver fan? What is your favorite John Denver song?
I'll leave you with mine.

Lovely song. Yes I do recall him very well and he is indeed a great loss.
He loved it here in Colorado as I recall too.
I dont often get to listen to him DW, so this is appreciated thanks.

@DWDavis I understand entirely DW...I am an ocean girl myself.
I have yet to get up to some of the crystal clear lakes in the mountains here. I doubt I ever will.

Several years ago I had a chance to visit Colorado and loved it. We visited the Garden of the Gods many times during our stay, made the obligatory visit to Pike's Peak, and saw Royal Gorge. I almost hated to leave but Colorado lacks one thing I must be near, the ocean.

@DWDavis I did not know they broke up. Perhaps Love is also a song that touches the heart.
He must have said this in happier times. Do you you why they separated?

@1hopefulman I don't know why, but I know it wasn't an amicable breakup. John took a chainsaw and cut their bed in half. He wrote the song early in their marriage, in about ten minutes, while riding on a ski lift.

I loved him. I saw him when I was a child in West Virginia. He gave a free concert. It was just before his song Country Roads hit the charts. Country Roads is my favorite

How coincidental! I really did like John Denver. He had such a wholesome, pure voice. I particularly like operatic voices but did love John Denver. The only live concerts I've ever attended wereto hear Luciano Pavarotti, Sherrill Milnes, The 3 Irish Tenors and John Denver, who performed in Massachusetts, USA in the late 1970s, fairly close to where I live.

@DWDavis It was so long ago. I vaguely remember it being a big brick building, possibly a coliseum or emporium? It was an indoor concert. It could have been Springfield but I honestly don't remember.

I always liked Country Road. Yeah - once you get on YouTube, one song leads to another.

I've read up on the whole best by date thing and most dairy and egg products are good for at least 7 days past the best by date. Cheese is easy to guage, if it's not green it's good. Milk you can judge by the smell. Bread, too, if it's not moldy or doesn't smell earthy, it's probably okay, especially if you toast it.
