One of the things that I do not like about sitcoms is shows that have canned laughter. It takes away from the program. If a show is funny, I don't need canned laughter to encourage me to laugh or giggle. Some of my favorite sitcoms were Seinfeld, Cheers, Taxi, Lucy, the Honeymooners, and Fraser. Are you bothered by canned laughter?

Canned laughter ? May i know please why it is called that .
I love sitcoms . And i love watching reruns of them on my old iPad before going to sleep. At least i am happy before i go to sleep.

Canned laughter is another way of saying a laughter track. It's prerecorded laughter. It's unnecessary.

@zebra2222 Oh so it's that . Yes, they do play that in sitcoms .
Well, i think that prerecorded laughter is a gauge for the audience that the scene is funny .

It's so fake and dumb because it's saying to you, that's funny you are supposed to be laughing.

Mash did not need to have a laugh track. It was a great sitcom on its own merit.

I don't like that as well. It's like they are just inducing you to laugh even if it's not funny at all.
