I just found out a few minutes ago and wanted to share that I was just hired on as a writer of study guides for practical/registered nursing, The ACT, The SAT, Family Nurse Practitioner exams. My education will not go to waste now and I can do something that I really like doing. As I said in a response earlier I can live my dream. I always like doing the prep work for a classroom teacher but presenting was not always my forte. Now I can use the skills that I am really good at doing like thinking of interesting ways to test student knowledge of what they were taught. How many teachers out there really like do the paperwork side of their position and if I remember right teachers prefer to teach and not sit at their desks even though that is part of the job.

Congratulations on the new writing job! I am one of those teachers who much prefers to be teaching the material and abhors the paperwork side of the job.

I also like to help the teachers prepare their lessons whether it may gathering materials or even helping with small group instruction. I always tried to find teaching assistant positions but those are hard to come by it seems.

@marky7 Most states have all but eliminated funding of teacher assistant positions except for special needs and self-contained classes where federal law requires them.

@DWDavis I was a substitute assistant teacher in a few special needs classrooms in PA. I enjoyed it. Not as much paperwork as the head teacher mainly just creating activities which I liked.
