I never fail to watch the program in BBC where people are moving from the city to countryside. It always makes me wish it was me looking for that property,to live in the beautiful countryside in my own house. It`s something im looking forward to,but mostly doable if you are retired as some of these places are isolated.I know l will make it!! maybe not today or tomorrow but some day.

I wonder why retirees want to live in such a place. They need access to medical care, and as they get older, it is not safe for them to drive. i think old people should live in a community where others will check in on them, and they have access to amenities.

After living in a thriving city for over 20 years, l understand why they move to the country side,as you get older, you want peace and leave behind the city hectic and noise.

I am sure you will be able to do it someday. We live in the countryside, but it was close to a big city where my husband worked and not too far from my job.

l wish for the countryside but not too isolated,it should be close enough to reach the nearest town in about 30 minutes.Surprising what ageing does,l was a city person and could not imagine spending my life anywhere else, but as l get older i feel i can do without all the hectic of a big city.

@miniam My older son works and lives in New York City, and has no desire to move to the country with his family - yet!
