One of the veggies that we love to use when we make our super juice is carrot . I read that both orange and purple carrots have the same nutritional value , except that the purple carrots has more significant amount of anthocyanins ..
Purple carrots are five times more expensive than orange carrots because they are organically grown. I seldom come across them so when they are available, I buy 2 to 3 kilos and have them with our daily dose of super juice..
Which one do you prefer, the orange or the purple carrots?

I encountered purple carrots when on vacation in India, I thought them a little odd and they tasted different to the traditional orange variety. When I got home I looked them up and was surprised to find that most carrots were purple till about 1,000 years ago when the orange variety was developed in Europe, and in the west the orange variety has been the more popular ever since.

@epiffanie I found the purple ones to be too earthy tasting but then I only tried them at age 40+ so they would have to be a taste to be acquired. I have never seen purple carrots in Europe, Canada or USA.

so, it is just the color that differentiates it from the orange. I still prefer the latter.

actually, the purple ones have more anti-oxidant .. any fruits and veggies that are deep read in colour, or purple or black, have more anti-oxidant in them so they are highly recommended..

@epiffanie yes and that is why I must avoid dark green leafy vegetables too because they have high vitamin K content which is restricted to a person taking Coumadin

If only the color is different but contains the same nutritious amound, I think i'll just get used to with the orange carrot.

The purple one has more anti-oxidant in it and it's organically grown that is why it's more expensive ..

I know purple carrots exist but have never tasted one. Don't think I've ever seen them at our grocery store. Would love to try them though! Thanks for sharing that link.

There are only a few organic here in Australia that are cultivating them.. The farmers in the Philippines may find them not profitable as yet ..But if you see it in the market, make sure you try ..
