Did anyone go from Windows 7 to Windows 10? My computer is over 5 years old and I am not sure it could handle Windows 10. Does it overwrite Windows 7 or does it coexist? I'm curious and trying to make up my mind whether to upgrade or not. What are the pros and cons of Windows 10?

I went from Windows 7 to Windows 10. It replaces Windows 7, but leaves things like programs and documents alone. I had a bit of trouble initially with getting familiar with how things like the settings and control panel have been changed, but after getting used to it I'm really enjoying it. You'll need to be careful with initial setup because there are a lot of settings that are defaulted to share information about you and your computer. The other major issue that I had was with my hardware. I can run Windows 10 just fine, but with the way I use my computer I was having frequent problems with it overloading my RAM and making my browser(s) freeze. I ended up upgrading my PC from 8 GB RAM to 12 GB, and the performance is much better now.

Thanks! I had a feeling that it might not be as secure as far as personal information goes. I already have trouble with not enough RAM, so that's something to keep in mind.

@peavey If you're already having issues, you might not even meet the minimum requirements of the OS. I'd double-check before deciding if you're going to upgrade or not.

@yukimori I suspect that I'd better do that, thanks. I might just stick with 7 until I add more RAM or get a newer computer.

My new computer is an upgraded Windows 7. I've had no problems with it. It doesn't co-exist. You'll have Windows 10. I love it by the way. It does take some getting used to, but if you're on it all the time like I am, it won't take long to get the hang of things.

I am on the computer nearly all the time, so I should get used to it fairly quickly, thanks!

I went from Windows 7 to Windows 10 on my laptop. The laptop copes with it quite well. It is also 5 years old now.

It might be different but I suspect both of us can learn it. I'm just concerned about the size of it and whether I would actually like it.

Sadly I have only had bad experiences with Windows 10. I liked 7 much better. 10 seems very user friendly but glitchy. At least on the computer I have used it on.

That's what I am afraid of. My computer isn't all that new or big, so I am a little cautious about it.

I upgraded frm Windows 8.1 to windows 10, and I haven't had any problems. I have had windows 10 since last summer, and I like it much better than 7 or 8.1. It is like one userr said, that it does take time to get used to it, but once you have, you will find that it is a good upgrade.
