I need a bookcase!

I'm still unpacking! Yes, folks, I'm taking my sweet time with this because I want things organized right from the start. And I already have a problem. I brought quite a few books - books to read, knitting books, cook books, etc. And the book case I'd planned to bring with me didn't come along last minute because my friend convinced me that I was bringing way too much stuff. And I have to admit that it really did look like that on moving day.
But now that I'm in the apartment and most of the boxes are gone and the furniture is mostly where it's going to stay, I have nowhere to put all of these books! I grabbed a cardboard box today and cut around the front of it so I can see the books but they won't fall out. I put that on top of a dresser in my bedroom for right now so I have a place to store books as I come across them. But it would be great to have somewhere to put them here in the living room. That other piece would have fit and if I could find someone to move it for me, I'd do it right away. But, of course, I don't have anyone. This stinks.
The good news is that my apartment is definitely not overcrowded with stuff.

@CRK109 That is a great idea! or a book shelf cabinet, I just put up some shelves on the wall and use it as book shelves instead. had to get the landlord's permission to put it up but it's all good otherwise.

Yes, that's the problem exactly. What I think I want is a rather small one that I can put next to my rocking chair. Books below and a few decorative things on top. Something, perhaps, on the idea of a side table with a book shelf underneath. I won't put anything too large in here or it would most likely take over the room.

I looked on walmart.com to see if they had anything small and inexpensive. There were some pretty ones, but since they outsource to another store for those, they were a little too expensive for me. So I'll just have to keep looking around and waiting for the right one to find me! :)

You should take your time so it's done right and you don't become too overwhelmed. I hope you find the right place for your books to stay. =)

Yes, I will take my time. I don't really have the money right now and I would need someone to deliver it, unless I bought something I'd have to put together myself. For now, I'm actually having fun playing with cardboard boxes and fashioning them into things to hold my treasured books. I'm even considering painting them so they won't look like cardboard at all! :)

I can't imagine not having bookshelves... and lots of them. They can be used in so many ways. Like in our house lol. We downsized. The house has virtually no kitchen storage and my bookshelves have become our new pantry. At least half of my books are still packed. We definitely are in need of another trip to Ikea!!

I hate not having any, believe me. When I go back to the old house tomorrow, I'm going to see if there's anything I can bring back with me that I can use for now. I'm really lost without one!

If I lived nearby, I would help you move the bookcase. Keep asking. Someone might be able to help you.

What a shame you can't get someone to pick up your bookcase. I used bricks and planks once to make a temporary bookcase.

I have converted one of my fancy show cases into a book case. See if something would work out temporarily.
