Do You Argue with Strangers?

While at the queue to pay for my groceries, a nice-looking woman offered some wafers as it was already 10 a.m. and she said she's already hungry. I said no, saying I still felt full from my breakfast. Then our conversation went to the coming May national and local elections. We agreed that people must choose who is the best. She named someone for the Vice President, which I disagreed. She even labeled those who said that her "candidate" should not be given the chance to hold that second highest post are ignorant people! I kept silent thinking that the woman could have a one-track mind and there's no use arguing with her. Do you insist on with your principle or just avoid arguing with such kind of people?

He he, you are aboslutely right about not arguing with this female. I am surprised to hear of people having the nerve to talk (or argue) politics with strangers. Politics, religion, welfare - these are not topics I wo uld bring up with a stranger. It is normally just weather or some common-place topic. That seems very silly.

I think we have a different culture here, because we always trust people whom we meet specially if they look nice or kind, whatsover. But I am cautious.

@maezee I feel the same way. There are some topics I'd rather not discuss with strangers. I don't want them to try to influence my opinion and I'm not going to try to influence theirs either.

I am wary of arguing with people I don't know as they could get violent

I don't talk too with strangers who looked differently; I mean, I talked with that woman because she greeted me nicely while waiting for our turn at the cashier.

More like debating, We can agree to disagree. Everyone won't have the same views and we can't expect them to.Sometimes we have to turn in the towel because some will perceive things how they want to perceive them and there's nothing we can do about it.

That is true, and as I can see, you cannot sway her from her stance to defend her "idol," so worthless to argue.

I used to back in 2010, but it's like talking to a wall and people do the same thing when trying to convince me to vote for their candidate. well, these days i just tried to avoid arguements and debates, I am just quiet now and will just vote on the day of the election.

I was so daring in the past when I wanted people to hear my opinion, but now I mellowed a lot knowing there could be danger in being such.

Thanks, @AkoPinay. It's a nice trait; will spae you from trouble, but if you are right, maybe you should have your voice heard.
