Physio Therapy- something that does work!

In Canada we call it physio therapy but I think in the US it is called physical therapy. However it is a wonderful tool to get those limbs and the body back on track even though, if you don't have insurance- it could cost you an arm and a leg. But if you can afford it and have back pain, arthritis pain (like me) or any body pain- it can work wonders. I don't have coverage but would love too so I have to pay every time. It is so expensive I can only go about once or twice per month. The exercises they give you really do strengthen an area. Plus, they use electric current, ultra sound therapy and so much more which feels great and soothes inflammation. I've been doing a few exercises to help my hip a little for upcoming surgery. Do you have coverage for physio therapy? pixabay

We call it physiotherapy here too. It depends on the type of private health cover that you have whether it becomes really expensive or not.

@MarymargII Just read below that you're to have a hip replacement. My Mum had one at 99 1/2 and she was fine after it. The pain all disappeared which was a great relief for her. You will have everyone here wishing you well.

@JudyEv I thank you for that- a little nervous as I hate operations- but have lots of pain too and don't walk too well now that it has progressed. - Plus have to get well for my Australian lunch- remember? ha!

I have coverage for all sorts of things, but never needed physical therapy. However, my son was recently dismissed from it. He had ulna nerve surgery, and after a few sessions, he practiced what he learned from them at home. Ate you having hip replacement?

@MarymargII Don't be nervous. My sis in law had both done, and she rides her bike, walks, and gardens. She's 78 years old. She even stands straighter!

@DianneN Aww! appreciate the words of support- I have heard it's like a miracle and easier than having a knee replacement!

We call it physiotherapy here as well. My husband has back pain issue, and he did some physiotherapy before. Glad that the cost was covered by his previous company. Hope you'll get well soon.

It's a great tool if you can afford it but I think at least half should be covered if a doctor recommends it. It used to be but not anymore.

I think you can join Tai Chi classes if these are available near your place. It sure is a cheaper way of achieving the same result. Tai Chi has been practiced for centuries, and many people worldwide can testify to the good effect.

@MarymargII You will find it tough at first. I ever had lessons, and though it seemed so easy, it really involved all parts of the body, and there was a lot of stretching, and pulling of different muscles.

In England we run the words together - physiotherapy. Yes, we have access to it for free if we need it.

You know, I think we run them together here as well as Canada uses British English. It's just that so many call it physio for short- I separated it, I think. haha!

If the doctor prescribes it, physio therapy is covered under my insurance. I also go regularly to a chiropractor. He helps me a lot!

I used to go to a chiropractor for back problems and he was great! But no in Canada, unless you have insurance, even if the doctor suggests it- you're S.o.l. It used to be covered in this case but not anymore :(
