Is it just me?

# 16 I'm sure it's probably obvious to every one else but me... That's why I'll just throw this question to all of you - what is that icon next to 'Explore' supposed to be? All of the other ones are clear to me - '$' for the bank, 'Pencil' to write a discussion, 'Magnifying Glass' for easy search, and 'People' to represent those we follow. I can't decide on what exactly is that symbol to explore. Is it a face with spiky hair? Or is it a bonfire? Aha! That must be it, huh?! A bonfire like explorers would have when they're out there, right?

I've always thought it was a fire.

I'm with Mike, it's a flame above a globe , representing Hot Discussions.

How do you think the 'fire' and 'explore' relate to each other?

I always thought it was a flame, but now that you have made this discussion - I don't see the connection to exploring with a flame! I saw the comment about a flame above a globe and hot discussions - I guess that would be the best explanation. I might even say it's an eye (with lashes?) - an eye would have made sense, but this doesn't look that much like an eye. Good question!!

@sishy7 Oh now this is bugging me . As a design person, these kinds of icons are supposed to be obvious - but this one is not so obvious. We see the flame part, but can't really make out what the bottom part is supposed to be. One could almost see it as a tear or rain drop, but I don't know . . . I'm stumped !

@much2say yeah, don't you like my face with spiky hair idea? without pgn's finding of the globe picture it would almost be impossible for anyone to guess the bottom part...

Yeah, yuki's idea of a compass would have been closer to exploring... They definitely had 'hot' discussions in mind when choosing the flame icon.

By George I think you got it .... I hadn't really thought about it but it does look a little like a flame or a weird G, who knows.

I've seen handwriting where they write their capital G's in a similar fashion @sishy7

@rebelann Yes, I've seen such writing for 'G' too... What I meant was, why would a 'G' be used as a symbol for the explore tab...

Ha ha... why would it be a 'G' at all? But I think you're right about it being a flame...

yes, I think safe to say it's a flame of fire representing 'hot' stuff behind it...

@rachz_kisses nah, nothing's wrong with saying it as fire - that's what everyone responses were as well, they're pretty interchangeable...

Maybe it is supposed to be a torch, like you see when people explore caves. Heck I had not even figured out all the categories in the Explore drop down menu and had to write a post about the no response one. Just my two cents.

Which one do you have a problem figuring out with? Is it the 'Interesting Discussions' one? If so, it is based on tags that the writer recently uses most... I guess the idea is if we use a particular tag word more often then we must think it's an 'interesting' topic or we have a certain level of interest on that particular subject/category. Thus, everyone's list of 'Interesting Discussions' would be different.

It's the flames of burning hot discussions... or something like that. I think a compass would make more sense, personally...

It would... especially for someone like me who is too stuck on relating the symbol with the word 'Explore' instead of what underneath or beyond the word itself..
