Out with the old and with the new

So after much of a debate I have decided to invest in a new computer. I'm thinking about getting a Chromebook. It's not nice enough to sell, It's missing it's "N" key, and the LCD screen is cracked, so I've been using an old computer screen to plug into it. Half the time the computer crashes because the drivers are going out. I'm lucky if it's going to last another month.
The computer I have is about 5 years old, it was my dads computer that I was given after he passed. He wanted to give it to me a few days before he passed away (suddenly). So I'm almost conflicted about what to do with the computer, I know it's not savable, and should just be tossed, but at the same time, it's one of the few things I have from my dad. So it's kind of weird to imagine my life without it.

It is sentimental, you can still keep it just because it's an item form your dad. Good luck on your new computer search!

I have never bought anything from QVC - but $55 a month sounds reasonable.

Yeah, I'd keep the laptop, but at the same time I just don't want to keep at around feeling a bit like a hoarder or something.
I'm thinking about going with one of the ones they have on QVC, it was a chromebook for $55 a month so it's like right in my budget, without over stretching too much.

Good to know that you have come up to that decision. I also need a new laptop. I need it in my work.
