What If This Happens?

You start a discussion.Within minutes it receives ten or more than ten responses.Excited, you start another discussion hoping that this discussion also will receive a good number of responses. But what happens is just the opposite.Your second discussion ends up receiving no or just one or two responses.
How would you react?Would it disappoint you?

I wouldnt be dissapointed, sometimes if you post too consecutively you receive less traffic when you flood the new discussions with mutiple post therefore causes us to overlook them ect

@BACONSTRIPSXXX,Absolutely right. The more discussions in a day,the more chances of their receiving less likes and responses.

@scheng1,I initiate one discussion per two or three days. The policy I follow is,start and forget.See how many likes and responses it gets. There's nothing to be disappointed about if it gets less responses or gets completely ignored. If it is ignored, learn a lesson for future and move ahead.

First of all, starting too many or too close is not a good idea. If someone posts more than one close, I will only read/comment on one. So you may want to think about only doing one, maybe two, a day and see how that works.

@AbbyGreenhill,Agree.Hundreds of discussions are started here in a day.One can't expect all one's posts to get the same exposer.I start generally one discussion in two or three days and this strategy has been working. My discussions are receiving unexpected number of likes and comments.

@JudyEv,That's the wise strategy. And that's the strategy I follow.I initiate a discussion and start interacting with people and commenting back to the responses it receives. And this interaction continues for two or three days until I start my second discussion.

I just look back at the experiences and move on. We just cannot predict what touch others and it also depends on other factors within and outside the site.
I don't get disappointed as I take it as part of life - do my duty and don't expect reward, at least immediate ones! siva

@else34 Yes, it can take time for a discussion to get an exposure.

@karjatwala,I agree with you.One can't decide how many likes and responses one's discussion gets.It depends on many factors. So a better strategy is,start, wait and and see.Give your posts time to get exposer .It may get 100 responses and it may as well end up without getting a single view.

people might have not be around to see it, it wasn't something they were interested in, it was posted too close to the first discussion, etc

@Jessicalynnt,Yes,there are many factors that decide the fate of a discussion. We can't control these factors.Better follow the strategy of wait and watch.Start a discussion and see how much exposer it gets.

@Jessicalynnt Yes,a discussion written in easy to understand language and ended with a question generally prompts others to respond.

@else34 a few things help, keep it over a sentence but not too long. Add in lots of 'hooks' or things for people to reply too like questions

No, I will not be disappointed because the first post got so many responses, and it is the timing that could had affected it, or if you are active in replying to notifications.

@acelawrites,Not only timing, there are many factors that decide the fate of a discussion.A post may get viewed and responded to by many, and it may as well end up completely ignored.
