Today is Volunteer Recognition Day if you know of someone who is volunteering tell them Thank You. Today we honor all those who are dedicating themselves to others. Volunteers just want to help and give back where they can. They assist people, animals and nature. They are also improving lives and provide comfort. You might even think of volunteering for yourself.

Well, I know of those who've adopted kritters which means there's fewer in the shelters .... but other than that I don't know anyone who volunteers.

@rebelann They are to be commended for adopting kritters. Do you know anyone who volunteers at the shelter?

I hope they are recognized also during the 364 days left, because many things would be impossible without volunteers. I started to do archeological excavations as a volunteer when I was 16, and I became a professional archeologist several years later, so I can say that volunteering has changed my life.

That was a good thing then that you volunteered as a teenager and that took you into your profession. Thank you for volunteering. Let's hope volunteers are appreciated every day because without them lots of organizations would be so short staffed they would have big problems.

Volunteers are the backbone of many organizations and without them not much would get done. Thank you to all volunteers everywhere.

ok now THIS day I like. I like and respect anybody who takes time out of their lives to help out. Whether it's to help people, animals or the environment.

@VivaLaDani13 I respect anyone who volunteers for anything as they are giving of themselves. I know a lot of the days are kind of silly.

@VivaLaDani13 Dealing with the public is a good thing and when people buy it makes you feel good. Volunteering is always a good thing to do.

@Marcyaz I used to volunteer at a little shop called Good Sammys. It was like those Op Shops or whatever you call it. I enjoyed myself there and most of all I enjoyed helping out. Always felt good afterwards.
