Officials of the National Basketball Association have reported the news that the Washington Wizards have reached an agreement with Scott Brooks to coach the basketball team.
Brooks will replace Randy Wittman as the coach of the Wizards during the 2016-17 basketball season. Wittman was terminated by the Wizards at the end of the 2015-16 basketball season after the team failed to make the playoffs.
Brooks had a meeting with Wizards general manager Ernie Grunfeld and Vice President of Basketball Operations Tommy Sheppard on Wednesday. Brooks will have a five year contract that will pay him $7 million dollars for a five year contract to coach the Wizards.
Brooks was the former coach of the Oklahoma City Thunder from 2008-2015. Brooks led the Thunder to the 2012 National Basketball Associations Finals.
The Wizards are hoping that Brooks will just as successful as the coach of the Wizards starting in his first year of coaching his new team starting in the 2016-2017 basketball season.

Excellent choice. OKC made a big mistake firing Brooks as they are no better if not worse without him. That makes the Wiz interesting next season.

I agree. I thought getting rid of Brooks was a bad idea.

Did he play in the NBA? His name sounds familiar more than just from the coaching realm.
