Panoramic X-Rays

After doing my post yesterday on the way they did my X-rays at the Dentist clinic, I did some searching about these Panoramix X-Ray machines, There are several good reasons for using them instead of the old style x-rays. One thing is that they only have to do one procedure, rather than several, so there is less radiation for the patient. It is much easier and faster for the Dentist and their staff. It is more diagnostic, as they get a full picture of everything from every angle. It doesn't require that they wear gloves, and there is no cleaning procedure needed except replacing the bite sleeve, which is the only thing the patient touches. I read somewhere else that this machine can also be beneficial in checking for blockage in the carotid arteries which carry blood to the brain. This could be very beneficial for doctors. So I am glad that my Dentist used this machine. I always hated it when they put those bulky cardboard things in my mount and I had to bite down on them. They usually hurt. Just wanted to share this information

I had panoramic x-rays two years ago, but now there is a new 3D panoramic that is incredible. My niece had one last month you can see the teeth in 3D and also turn them to see all the faces, it is amazing.

@AnneEJ The 3D Dental scanner is pretty new, only one dentist has the machine here.

Less radiation for the patient is major. I need to see a dentist and just can't do it. I have major teeth issues.

I wish I had seen a dentist when I was a child, I probably would still have more of my own teeth.

Recently, I had to undergone an endodoncy and I had to endure the placement of those devices that you are talking about to keep my mouth open. I wish they had used one of this modern ones instead.

Thanks for sharing this. I hate biting down on the card or whatever it is. I find it hurts too and they always want be to bite harder. I'm surprised my mouth doesn't bleed when they eventually remove it.

Since I only have a few teeth, it is hard for them to get the cardboard to stay where it should.

I had a dental cleaning yesterday. After taking four x-rays, they asked about the panoramic view. I declined. I know there's value to it, but they already took the other views. It was overkill at that point.

The dentist started to do mine the old way, but was having trouble getting the thing to stay in my mouth properly, so I am glad she changed her mind.

Anything with less radiation sounds good to me.

Technology is improving all the time, isn't it? This sounds a much better way to do things - I wonder if it is used for other body parts.
