Spring Snow Geese

These are the Spring Snow Geese Migration flying over the Wetland Management District.
The snow goose population has gotten out of control.
Now this Spring season marks the first time the state's hunters can shoot snow geese in the spring, when they are on their way to the Arctic.
They eat all the vegatation then there are big erosion problems.
The snow geese have either a white body with black wing tips, or a dark blue body with a white head. .

We won't see them again until Fall here. We get great flocks of them overhead and they are very loud going over.

The flocks can do so much damage because they are overbreeding.

I don't know but I guess the predators can not keep the population down or hunters wouldn't be able to hunt them this year. I am not a hunter so I have no idea.

@Marcyaz But can't the predators keep the population down? How many geese can they shoot? Does it have much effect?

hunting them makes me a tad sad, BUT I know it's necc. I just hope people eat what they hunt. I hate hunting for trophy

The photo is fabulous. I love the geese flying over my house but ours are Canadian Geese, they are honkers...I'm not sure I've ever seen white geese.

How beautiful they decorated the golden sky will flying and migrating. Are their meat delicious, you I have not yet taste the meat of goose.
