Black and blue bruises

For the past three weeks, I've returned to the gym after a six month absence and did Water Aerobics twice a week for the time being. My back is feeling better, since it was still from being inactive and the pain decrease is going down. Even by walking to the gym and downtown for church/library, it's good to get exercise when the weather's right. Though I've trying my best to gain a bit more weight before I would add more classes to my schedule. But after I saw that lucky ladybug Sunday morning, on the way back from church, I've tripped and fell on the sidewalk, halfway to my home. Maybe that's what I get from not making a wish on that ladybug. Though nothing's broken, sprain or fractured, I've scraped my nose and mouth on my face, along with my right palm, and both knees and elbows with bruises now. I'm feeling a bit better, though my knees and elbows hurt like the dickens. And with ice, heat and aspirin, it would swell for awhile. A year ago this month, I've sprained my right knee during yoga and took a month off from the gym to let it recuperate. Now it feels like deja vu again. I'll be tabling Pilates and Yoga for another 3-4 weeks, while I'll hoof it to water aerobics to let the heated pool water help with the pain. Does anyone any remedies from sprained elbows and knees?

Hugs, I'm sorry to hear when you told me that you had fallen on Sunday. Rest is the best and like you are already doing ice there not much more you can do for sprains. I hope you get better very soon

@Jessicalynnt Gotcha. I have Aleve PM. I've used it last week to help me sleep without pain.

No, I fell last year and the sprained wrist took weeks to heal, even the doctor thought it was broken but it wasn't. Sprains are the worst and I don't think there is anything to help.

Thanks for letting me know, Belle. At least my face healed well and my bruises are fading away a tiny bit.

@KristenH It just takes time so be patient and let it rest though I did alternate heat and cold compresses for a long time.

@BelleStarr That's my plan. I haven't used a heating pad yet. But I might soon.

The ice, heat and spirit should minimize any swelling and make you feel better, which is probably what you meant. If you really sprained your elbows and knees, you could possibly rest your elbows using a sling. It would be good to rest your legs for a few days if you did sprain your knees. I fell on an icy ramp a few years ago and sprained both my knees. I had to take off work for about a week and lie low. Ladybugs cant protect you from harm. I never heard of anyone wishing on them before. I used to trip on sidewalks, I learned to watch where my feet were walking.

Ouch Marsha. That's got to hurt. No slings or sprints. But I do sleep with extra pillows to elevate my elbows. I do rest them on the days I don't go to the gym. As for ladybugs.... you learn something new everyday. (See previous post.)

Yeah I have been Judy. Me, too. I'm still black and blue and slowly healing. Thanks for the tip. I might have chocolate milk today.

@JudyEv I believe so. Carnation Breakfast Essentials is one. I do have chocolate syrup. I brought chocolate pudding and Hershey's Reese's snack mix to help with gaining weight today at the store. I would love to find a double malted chocolate powder.

@KristenH Do they still make malted milkshakes? I heard these are very good for weight gain - double malted are even better.

I'm sorry you tripped and was hurt. Water aerobics will help. I used to go to water aerobics all the time. I'm trying to decide if I want to start it up again. It's tempting.
