Life in the Hammock

Earlier, I had written a post about an event I had to work in one of our busy local parks yesterday. During that event, I received great inspiration for an activity today that my son and I could do together! As our event in the park was wrapping up yesterday, the University of Florida Hammock Club arrived for an event they were staging in the park. Their event was called #UFHammock16, where they invited everyone to come out to the park and set up their hammocks and enjoy a beautiful spring afternoon. Although I would have loved to have joined the group yesterday, I was quite exhausted from our day-long event, and plus the kids and I didn't have our hammocks with us! But the inspiration stuck in my mind! This afternoon, after all the chores were done, all the errands were run, and all the kids' homework was finished, we finally had a chance to relax. My daughter was working on a research paper for school, so my son and I grabbed our hammocks and went outside to the woods behind our house, set up our hammocks, and laid out for a couple of hours as the sun started to set tonight. There was a gentle breeze, we had plenty of shade, and it was another gorgeous day out! My son and I chatted for a little while as we lounged in our hammocks, talking about plans for our next camping trip. After a little while, the comfort of the hammocks begin to get the best of us, and we both ended up falling asleep for a little Sunday afternoon nap. We couldn't have asked for a better way to end the weekend, than my son and I lying in our hammocks watching the sun sink low below the horizon. It was a peaceful end to a busy and productive weekend. I think we are starting to really like living life in the hammock! How did you end your weekend?
