Latest speaker project almost done

I'm almost done restoring the late 1970s ADS 710 loudspeakers I've been working on. All missing veneer has been replaced, and all that's left to do is oil up some surfaces. I'll attach a picture I took of two tops oiled and the sides still awaiting oil. This is one of my favorite parts of the restoration process. Yesterday, when I was helping a friend load up the U-Haul for his trip to Santa Barbara, I noticed some small tables and a night stand that need my work. He said he'd let me have at it when I visit him back in Santa Barbara. Do you enjoy the natural beauty of wood? I'm almost obsessed with it.

I was married to a carpenter. He helped to awake in me the difference in the woods. I have always loved the real, unfabricated pieces of furniture. The old antiques are where you can see it Now days they use the fabricated kind of wood alot and it doesn't look, or smell near as good.

@celticeagle There are even some very good guitars that are make out of non-wood materials. But there's just something about wood.

Natural wood is the best for us here at the school house

@amadeo That sounds really cool! Did you renovate it yourselves?

At the school house? I'm thinking of Mark Twain now.

Thanks! These are going to be some nice 710s. I hope they sell for about $400.

I am also obsessed by the natural wood. It's almost time to sand and pain the fence in the garden, before it is too hot. I love this task.

Sounds like fun. What stain or paint will you be using? Can I stop by and help?

@TheHorse I use the 3V3 products, I do not want to cover the wood, but to protect it against the UV and rain. Just like you, I like to see the wood grain. You can stop and help, I would be pleased.

I think one can have too much raw wood if one isnt in a cabin, but do like it in certain places

@TheHorse I dont mind them, in the right settings, not just faux cabin, they need to be out in the woods

@Jessicalynnt Our Summer cabin is deep in the woods. In California, there are a lot of modern a-frame type "cabins." I think lofts are kind of cool.

I actually like cabins, both the old ones and the newer Tahoe style ones.

Bringing those great old speakers to life is such a good thing. I have never worked with wood like that, but admire the results.

Thank goodness most people don't know how easy this is to learn. What I means is...um...yes, thank you very much.
