Have You Ever Seen a Vineyard Like This One?

The naturally heart-shaped grove of oak trees was on the hill long before the vineyards were planted around it. I live a couple of miles from it and have been passing Heart Hill, which is a local landmark, for over twenty years. I watched as the vineyards were planted and the winery and tasting room were built. It is a beautiful property, and I think the hill is more beautiful since the planted the vineyards, especially in autumn when the grape leaves get their autumn color.
Do you have any vineyards or wineries near where you live? All my neighbors are vineyards or wineries.

@bagarad I can't believe I don't know the answer to this. I know they are a great nuisance in crops and I should think they would be in vineyards. I'm pretty sure they would be fenced out. Some of the orchards aren't fenced but roos wouldn't be so destructive in orchards as they would be in vineyards. Actually I'm sure all the vineyards around are fenced.

@JudyEv Around here they double fence them to keep deer out. Some, though, are open and I can walk right into them even after hours. My favorite vineyards don't have gates that shut at night. Maybe they just let their winery dogs out to guard the vineyards. One of those vineyards has cats, though, instead of dogs. Unless they don't keep the dog in the tasting room.

They get brown and fall off, just like the leave of deciduous trees. This photo was taken in February at a local vineyard. If the leaves haven't fallen off yet, their branches will be pruned back. Either way, they will be gone.

One of our daughters lives in Napa and teaches in the valley. She has a vineyard right against her backyard. We live in Orange County and there are a couple of vineyards in the area, but not many.

I also have a vineyard across my back fence. But if I want to walk in that vineyard I have to drive half a mile to get the the official entrance. I can, however, take pictures over the fence and get a front row seat to activities like harvesting. I even got a free concert when the harvesters sang as they picked. Where in Orange County do you live? My brother lives in Tustin.

@DeborahDiane I spend a lot of time in Long Beach growing up and lived and taught there for a couple of years after getting married. Laguna Beach is right next door, isn't it? Or am I confusing it with another beach?

@bagarad - I live in Laguna Woods, a retirement community on the edge of Laguna Beach. I have a daughter who lives in Irvine ... right next to Tustin!

In my county you can't go very far without seeing a vineyard or a tasting room.

It's down the street from me. I was here before it was, so I watched it be planted. The oak grove was already on the hill. They planted the vineyards a few years ago and opened the tasting room.

I've never seen a vineyard that isn't scenic in its own way.

That's too bad. Vineyards are beautiful, peaceful places most of the time.

That is beautiful. There are not many vineyards near me however there are many in the surrounding areas. Penticton, BC has a crazy amount of wineries and vineyards and they are all gorgeous.
