I was happy for the unexpected power outage

I was actually thinking to take a break yesterday, as I suddenly felt tired to work. But I was not sure if I could do that as I'd really want to get some work done. I did some work in the early morning, and suddenly there was power outage. Though I was sleepy, it was too hot and I couldn't really sleep, so I spent time to do some home organization and cleaning as well. It was good, and I felt good as well. It actually didn't require much time to de-clutter and organize, but I have been distracted from my computer, so it always took me longer time to complete cleaning an area. Since there was no power outage, and I couldn't use my computer to work at all, so it gave me some good time to spend with my home. I'll really need to dedicate an hour in a day to do the decluttering and organizing work, so it'd be easier for me when my baby comes. Sometimes, it's really good for me to unplug from my computer.

It can be really hard for us to tear ourselves away from the computer sometimes.

I totally agree with you! Computer and especially Internet is really a great invention, but it has taken us too much time away from others.

I agree. However, if it is our means of getting an income, getting away from computer for long time may give us stress because we need to make money.

@annierose I think it is hard to make very much money on these sorts of sites.

Yes! Nice that you can see it as a blessing in disguise. I went several months without internet at home and while thats a little overkill -I did get a lot of housework and reading done during that time.

Yes, it's always good to see everything as a blessing. I am still learning to do that. Sometimes something might look like a disadvantage, but it can actually turn out to be good.

@kaka135 I agree. I think you are a happy individual because you know how to look on the bright side of life. There is always something beautiful if we only take a look on it. As evidence, despite the power outage you still become productive.

I find it good too to stay away from computer for some time. There are many things we do not notice when the computer is on. Just like what you stated, you were able to organize your things. As for me, I am able to chitchat with my family if I am away from the computer. Technology is really tempting. Everybody gets addicted easily to computer because it really entertains us a lot that is why it is kind of difficult to stay away from it.

As for me, as I have young children, so I always need to get away from my computer and spend time with them. When my parents visit me, I have to turn off my computer and chit chat with them as well, as they don't come here very often. Yes, the temptation! For me, I always give myself excuse of using computer - as I am working, either online work or my software project. I will really need to limit my computer time once I have done with my software project, I need to spend more time with my children.

@kaka135 That is good. Spending more quality time with your kids is very important while they are growing up. They will not be forever kids and for sure they will really be happy with you having time for them. When it comes to computer usage, I am also an addict. So, sometimes I try my best to limit my exposure to it by limiting my time to few hours only.

OH yes it is good to stay away from the computer sometimes. I could do that for the whole day but not with my phone. I need my phone with me even in my sleep.

As you are a outgoing person, I suppose you can always leave your computer aside, and go outside. I am fine without computer if I am not at home. But when I am at home, especially now that I am busy with my freelance project and online work, it seems like I just always need to sneak into my computer and do some work. For me, I don't really need my phone, it's just for me to make and receive calls mainly.

@kaka135 My phone works as my computer as well, so can't be without it. And I always communicate with family and friends all over the world there, not to forget my clients.

I think that could apply to all of us - I know I spend far too long on the computer.

It seems like many of us realize we have spend more time than we should with our computer, but we still stay here. Should we blame mylot or ourselves?

This is what happens when there is power outage . We get to do the things we have been longing to do, but just can't , because of the temptation of doing online works .

Yes, I agree with you. I found myself giving excuses that I am working online and making money, so I have to stay online.
