Tempted, but not that mean

Another discussion has motivated this one of mine. Briefly, a new user complained that a perfectly legal post of theirs had disappeared. Our friend @JJ explained why. He even quoted the four words of the post. I took the idea and expanded on it so that the new user would get the idea of how to turn it into a legitimate discussion. I was tempted to write the discussion myself after explaining it, but I am not that mean. We shall see if the poster can figure out what we mean by 'discussion'. Would you take the topic and make it into a discussion? The discussion about his discussion did not leave a lot to discuss either.

The rules of this site are not so hard, I cannot understand how some people do not get them.

I know, this is one of the easiest sites there are. Maybe they really struggle with English, but I think this happens a lot. I just do not always see the complaints.

@Hatley I have read some posts written by non English speaking members, and they seem to know only a few words. I believe that they cannot even understand English properly.

I think you have just said it "four words of the post". Need I say any more.

The right four words might cause a discussion, but this "discussion" would be better identified as a poll.

I saw one with punctuation and about six words and a word that was not a word, maybe a typo yesterday. One person asked them if they had even read the faq.

I see so many newbies joining on the delusion that they will make a fortune here. This site is about interacting with other members not about the pennies we are awarded for participating. I see too many posts with few words leaving nothing to talk about.

The one discussion is still up talking about the deleted one. I think the person has a bit of a hard time with our American English sentence structure and getting the idea of how to make a discussion. They have put up some other valid discussions and I think will learn.

sometimes people blow my mind, it's just not that hard to add a personal thought and a question to things!

Looking over my activity from last night I am wondering if his discussion about his discussion being deleted got deleted. I would not be surprised. There was not much to discuss.

I would hope so, because that is discouraging if you cannot figure it out.

It is good of you and @JJ to try to help the newcomer. Some of them find it quite difficult to get started here.

From their responses to him and others I got the feeling they still did not understand, but they did at least respond to most comments.
