Summer's Hitting my Yard

United States

In my back yard are these eight plum trees that give off their flowers as the seasons warm and then slowly they start turning into giant purple and green plums. Perfectly sweet and tart. The ones closer to the field become a tasty treat for some deer and other California wildlife, but the big purple tree is the one I look forward to. When those are ready we have to pick them fast or else they fall on the cars and get underfoot when they fall. It makes the whole back yard smell like rotting fruit. But those taste so brilliant as jams and as other treats that it makes up for purple stains on my shoes and jeans. By the time all the roses and the naked ladies are done blooming I will be ready to grab up massive bowls of plums and then be sick of them after needing to eat them with every meal.

It's great to have a fruit bearing tree in your backyard.

@toniganzon It's really nice to have the trees, but they tend to make a mess with the plums we can't reach and don't eat.
