Parents play a vital role

As parents, we should be the role model of our children. When we are not setting a good example to them, surely they will also be bad to our society but if we see us doing good to all aspect, then our children will also follow what we are. If a father is a drunkard then the children will surely be a drunkard too because they used to see their father drinking liquor, so it will register in their young minds that what their father does is good, so they will follow the footstep of their father. Parenting is not an easy task, we have to set a good example to our children because they are following us or they see us everyday on what we do, so watch out of your doings.

I think they need to teach some parenting skills at school so that young parents have a bit more knowledge.

That is true, parenting is not easy. We should see to it that we'll be a good model to our children, not doing bad because they will try to imitate us.

I agree with all the things that you said. Parents must be good models to their kids. I remember one thing that we played when we were kids, we acted as what our parents do. In fact, not only the parents but also the adults must be careful in whatever they do or say because there will always be observers.

@ida123 That is very challenging to the part of the parents who both work hard for their kids.

Indeed. So, parents must see to it that we teach and guide our children to be a good person in words and in deeds.

Yes, we are indeed the models of our children so we should be mindful of our actions and words . Though , like my husband , because they saw how big a sacrifice it was to take care of their father when he had as stroke before , they all didn't smoke and drink when they were already grown ups . Although , my husband get to experience smoking too but stopped when his father had a stroke .

A good parent quote to live by.
Indeed.. They will look to their parents as an example. Parents are their models and they thought that we are always doing the right things. Hence, we must be careful on everyword we said (no cussing) and the actions we are about to do.

@ida123 It is true. When a kid committed a mistake like stealing, making stories which are not true, or being rude, the one who is old enough will surely ask who is or who are the parents of that kid. Because of that, it is not only the kid who got humiliated but also his or her parents.

Exactly friend, we parents are mostly to blame if our children is a bad element of our society, so we always do good in words and in deeds so that they will imitate us.

I agree that parenting is not an easy task and it is incredible that those who want to become parents are not obliged to go to a school to learn how to teach to their children.

@LadyDuck It is a sad thing as what I have observed nowadays. Many teenagers get pregnant in a very early age and some of them came from broken families. They need guidance from the older ones. The problem is some of them are rebellious so I wonder how can they raise their kids properly in the future.

@ida123 This is why we should learn what to say and what to do, too many parents are not good example for their children.

We just set a good example to our children, we can be literate or illiterate in education but still can set a good example to them. Doing the right things and saying the right words, advising them always can make our children grow responsibly.

@ida123 Yes lack of parenting can lead to more issues in society. This is one reason kids raised in day care and without relatives and parents around often end up hurting society.

Well, that's why I remain single, I don't think i have anything good to teach him or not prepared to raise him or her. Agreed, when you have a child, you can't do anything you want anymore.

True.Parenting is a tough job.You need to be careful at every aspect while parenting. It looks easy for us yet now when I have grown up and I look towards the new generation with so much of technology exposure that I had not at the time of my teenage or school years I somewhere feel grateful of my parents that they had taken good care of mine and I realize how difficult parenting has become these days.Recently only I was discussing this with my mother and she was supportive in the same. Parenting is a tough and a very beautiful journey I would say that goes on for life.

True, very true. Parenting is not an easy job. We must be extra careful with out actions, words we utter, the love we tender and all aspect should be monitored so that our children will feel that they are really love and cared so that they don't feel that they were isolated from their parents that brought them sometimes from the outside influence.

Very well said. I remember my eldest daughter once said to me that, if they see me roaming around with friends, gossiping, and have no time for them, maybe they will do same when they grow up. Now my daughters are well mannered, respectful and honest. Thanks God. My husband is a good man too with no vices whatsoever.

There are some children who do not follow the footsteps of their parents, like the drunkard you mention. They will want a better life ahead and not the life they experiences with their parents. That is why let us be good parents in the eyes of our kids

Yes, parenting is not easy and all parents want the best for their children, but do they set an example? It is more of what you do that shows their children the way and not telling them repeatedly what they themselves do not follow - siva
