This is my ode to all the workers out there in the world. May 1 being Labor Day and Labor Day being celebrated across the world to give due to all the members of the workforce. Of course, Well sort of. Not sure when it actually happened or why it happened but the essence of Labor Day has been watered downed to parties at home or all nighters at the beach. Workers marching the streets demanding for a fare hike or more just working conditions is a thing of the past. No street protests this year, no dialogue with the government, no announce of increased salaries or better compensation packages. I guess times have changed but the lowly worker ant remains in his lowly place. Anyway, I don't want to treat the matter lightly but for those who want a view of Filipino culture here is one old wife's tale that has been going around for generations. It is fairly common to see plumbers posting their ads around the local neighborhood similar to what you see in the accompanying photo. Poster would have the services that they offer and their contact numbers. Nothing fishy about it right? Well, the old wife's tale actually goes to say that these aren't actually plumbers, they are actually men who offer other worldly comforts instead of just plumbing services. I didn't believe this the first time I heard it really. What's funny is while listening to one of my favorite radio shows, the radio jocks mentioned the same thing and decided to call an actual plumber to 'verify' the matter. Needless to say the clueless plumber was put in a very uncomfortable situation and hilarity ensued during the rest of the phone conversation. That was one prank call that I would love to do! Do you guys have any similar old wife's tales floating around that you wanted to confirm if it is true or not? Any prank calls you want to pull of? How did you celebrate May 1st?

Convenor of what? Stressing? You should be relaxing as it is a holiday.

@allen0187 I have to do some strategies for the voting on election day. I will assign my member to monitor the polling precincts and hope they will not fall on those who will give money to them. That is already stressing for me.

I feel for that plumber, as we all know many are hard working people trying to get the job done quickly, so the person that called is happy with the work. Yes, we all know there are people that shouldn't be plumbers and should work in a different job. Sorry I don't do prank calls, as I wouldn't want somebody to do it to me.

It would have been great if they ended up calling a plumber who offered 'extra services'.

I have never heard such tale, but I think that they risk to have bad surprises sometimes.
