I just read an email from Sparkle Stories and was reminded that it's screen-free week! I think this event is held in the first week of May annually. It's to encourage us to reduce our digital entertainment time, and engage ourselves to the people and to the world.
It may not be easy to totally unplug from all the screens (TV, computer, tablets, mobile phone), but it'd be better if we can spend some time without the screens and really hook up to the people and the nature as well.
Sparkle Stories is offering 5 free stories this week, it's especially good for parents. Instead of letting children to watch TV, perhaps parents can tell a story each day or let the children listen to the story themselves.
Do you think you can unplug from digital entertainment for a week (work is not included)?

Actually I always find it quite amazing when I hear people do not watch TV, as I was brought up in watching TV daily (though not the whole day), and I have not hear anyone without watching TV.
I think it's good to stay away from TV sometimes, we'll have more time to do other things that we want to do more. I am trying to limit my computer time as well, especially in front of my children, but when I am rushing for my work, I just hardly do so.

@kaka135 When I got married, my husband decided not to buy a TV set, because he liked the idea to go out for a walk and to meet friends in the evening. We got the habit not to watch the TV, later we bought one, but we use it to watch a movie in the evening, it does not stay on very long.

Now the cricket match is going on in TV every day, it is impossible for me to distracit the attention of my children from TV. Younger one who is 9 years old is more interested in cricket and difficult for me to handle his cricket interests. He do read stories, short and simple in a quick way to get him free for watching cricket.

@kaka135 Yes of course dear, We are living in a two-room flat and both brothers play cricket inside room. They already broken many things in the room including wall clock.
When they had vacation they used to go to play cricket in a near by park. But on school days they do not get time to go out and play.

A week without phone is something impossible for me to do. I need my phone for my job and many are also depending on me in order for the reports to be finished. It will also be a torment not to talk to my long distance boyfriend
Anyway, if not because of those factors I think I can unplug myself. Maybe 2 days will be possible but not 1 week.
