The Worst Kind Of Captcha

I have seen and heard some dreadful Captchas over the years of web surfing I have done. 1/. Random letters and numbers scrunched together so tightly you often can’t tell one from another. They are often scored through as if crossed out by lines that block their easy identification too. 2/. Garbled very short audio blasts. 3/. Captchas where they say you got them wrong even when you know full well that you got them right. 4/.Single photos where there is a number presented so small and blurred as to be unreadable, but you are expected to get the number right to prove you are not a robot. Having failed to get one must therefore prove I am a robot. 5/. Product adverts where they expect you to say good things about the product or company in your own words. These are usually rejected when you try. 6/. And now the newest ones for me – multi-photo panels where there might be 9 or 10 images and I am invited to click on all the ones with a truck, cake, river, or pie, etc. in it. The trouble is that some of the images are out of focus and unclear. Is it a pie or a cake? Is there a tree on that mountain or not? What myopic photographer took these images? I don’t mind filling in one Captcha on joining a site to prove I am me, but when every posting, image or change of page requires a new Captcha it gets extremely infuriating. It’s as though they think I might be taken over by a robot between key strokes (do my bidding, foolish mortals!!!) but I am still me, honest. Arthur Chappell

I like the super easy one that says I am not a robot and you check the box. Simple.

@irishidid those tempt me to want to write 'does not compute' over and over in the box provided

Thankfully it seems I don't frequent sites that use them very much, because they sound downright infuriating!

@Fleura they are pretty bad - Bubblews used to use them but they dropped them late on, but then, they dropped everything else in the end too

Sometime back there were these jigsaw kind of ones too. A piece cut out from the image they displayed and several ones to choose from. I loved these for a while just because I love jigsaws. And I remember, I would open up that page many times a day just to play around.

I've seen all those except your latest. I haven't seen that group of photos yet. I do agree with you. I think they are out to prove we are robots, not the opposite.

I hate those too, and you are so right. I haven't had the pleasure and I am joking of seeing the ones with blurred photos.
