Just last week on Friday,a six-storey residential building collapsed during a heavy downpour for the better part of this day.So far this tragedy has claimed about twenty six people though this number is sadly expected to rise. There are reports that this building had been earmarked for demolition as it was not fit for human habitation. It was like a chamber of death to occupants in this building yet had it been demolished on time, this should not have happened.
The owners of the building and three government have since been charged been arraigned in court to face charges of the over twenty people. But then we have had other collapse of buildings in the past all due to corruption who value money at the expense of the safety of people.
I hope this incident is not quickly forgotten but it should be a lesson to those concerned to be on the lookout of any condemned buildings that may pose a threat to people.
