Mother's day help?

This is my first mother's day where my mother is living far away from me. She used to be right across town but now she is four hours away and seeing her for this holiday is an impossibility. Does anyone have any ideas on how to still make it a special day from so far away from her? She's been feeling down lately so I'm thinking that a simple call isn't going to do it.
Who else is spending time away from their mother or has any ideas as to what I should do?

My mom is already in heaven so i think that's even farther. I'm not sure what could cheer up your mom. You know her better. If a present could make her feel better then you should go for that one. There are a lot of online stores that deliver and you could choose a variety of present for her.

Aww I am sorry that you will not be able to go see her and spend time with her on mothers day. For me I could still drive the 4 hours but not every has the money or time or transportation to do that. I am going to dinner with my father, my mother and my sister. It will be the first time my children stay home while I go out on mothers day. I am actually pretty sad about it as I want to spend my mothers day with my children. I won't be gone more then probably 3 or 4 hours but still. I guess I should just try to enjoy my time out and be thankful my dad is so generous to take us all out and pay for our dinner at a Chinese buffet.

That is all it takes sometimes. Besides when you live long enough most material things have been used and are tired. So dinners and traveling, Talking to family works. From my experiences.

I'm sorry that you won't see her this Mother's Day. I think a phone call with some good laughs might make you both feel better. Maybe take a picture of some flowers and text them to her! Or take a cute picture of yourself holding a sign that reads Happy Mother's Day and send it to her. I'm sure it would bring a smile to her face. I know my mom would love it if I couldn't see her.
