Oh how wonderful when the letterbox delivers not just one postcard on a day, but FOUR!! One from a new postcrossing listing and three from a good friend here on mylot, that sent me the wonderful HRH Queen Elizabeth II postcards with stunning stamps. Thank you @ison1 I am watching the BBC - "Royals" programs being shown weekly on the ITV Choice channel and just loving all the History being told. Prince Philip being of Greek birthright is especially interesting as I have quite a fascination with the Greeks. So today is a shout out to Prince Philip on this Greek Friday celebration. "The husband of a queen is known as a Prince consort and does not become King. Queen Victoria's husband was Prince Albert, and Queen Elizabeth's husband is Prince Philip The Duke of Edinburgh. The wife of a king is a Queen consort and does take the title Queen although she does not rule as the monarch." Cheers!!

What a nice thing to receive. I always like to see things about the Royal family.

Despite being English I have not seen any of the 90th Birthday stamps so far. I often wonder whether these are sold for postage use or just as collector issues.

postage use would be a good thing as I got my postcards through the post?

I have to admit, I LOVE black and whites, so lovely. Odd they use prince but not princess. I'd rather be a princess than a queen, not sure why

That's right, because if the Queen's husband became King he would rule over her, which would obviously be wrong (and would be a very strong disincentive to marriage - but even in today's liberal times I can't see the monarch being an unmarried mother, not quite yet).

I like the stamp with the vintage photo of the queen with her two small children.
