Did I Wait Too Long

Being as I have been fighting to save my home for the past two years I did not get on the housing list.
This morning I went to the housing office and was told there is a 12 month waiting period. That's actually better than it was as the last time I was there it was 18 months.
The last time I was there the woman told me that as soon as I filled out the paperwork and brought it in she would set up an appointment for me. Today she told me that no matter when I filled it out and brought it in I would be waiting 12 months.
So did I wait too long? Perhaps, but I also don't know when the sheriff's sale for the house is going to be since they are still working out whether I will be able to keep the house and what the payments are going to be.
At this point, even though I have already decided to give it up, I might still need to keep it as I really don't want to be homeless either while housing determines when I'll be permitted housing.
So now I feel like I'm in limbo and have no idea what to do next. I guess I just wait now to find out what's going to happen next. I do have the paperwork filled out, so all I need to do is turn it in and begin the 12 month waiting process.
My life for the past three years has all been wait. It looks like I'm going to be waiting a little longer.
How is your day going? Thanks for reading.

Well that is too bad that you have to wait for 12 months for housing. You might have just waited too long but hey you have waited this long already to hear if you would be able to keep your house or not so another year won't seem that long.

I guess from what I read after this that most of this has been resolved in a better way for you. Will you still be living with your son?

@BelleStarr No, I'm not okay with that. But I've lived alone before, just not in the last 8 years when I've had someone here from the moment I signed the papers for the house and my youngest has been here for 6+ of those 8.

I remember being in that position and not knowing which way to go. God will provide. I'm sure of that. I'm probably going to just lose my home and get no money whatsoever, but I have a roof over my head and that's all I care about right now. I pray for you every day and I know good things are coming for you.

@CRK109 As I was telling my son last night, though, what memories am I going to get rid of. I have a lot of boxes and things in my closets, and they are all full of memories. I just hate the idea of throwing memories away. So it's going to be a tough three months of downsizing.

I'm on the top priority waiting list. So I will be moved by the end of August.

Well it worked. The wait was only a matter of hours. Everything worked out much better than I could hope for.
