How Do You Clean a Litter Box With Clay Litter?

This may seem like such a silly question, but for me, it's not. For quite some time now I have been using the scoopable litter. It's super easy because the urine also clumps to scoop out. Most recently I've been using cut up newspapers in the litter boxes. I actually like this the best. It's simple to put on the plastic gloves and just scoop out the wet papers and refill it with more. My daughter bought me a 30 lb bag of clay cat litter. I find that stuff to be so gross. The urine just saturates it. You can't use the pooper scooper to take it out as it just goes back out through the slits and back in to the box. My mother claims I am doing it wrong. She says all I need to do is scoop out the poop and cover up the wet stuff with more litter. uummm no! That doesn't work for me. It's disgusting. She keeps telling everyone how I am doing it wrong. I went to the plastic gloves and taking out the wet that way to throw it away. She says I'm wasting it. No, I won't use your answers as an argument, because with my mom, just like my husband, arguing is pointless, either one of them is the right one. Anyway, I am back to the newspapers that I am cutting up. Thankfully I had been saving them for some time now and have enough to get me through a few weeks yet. I am just too broke to buy cat litter. The cats don't mind the newspapers at all. It's easy to clean up.

I never found a way to clean clay litter. I just had to keep changing it often because you can't scoop it.
