So now my lovely Filipina wife and I have been here together in the U.S. for just over a year. Have a lovely FilAm daughter and also her 7-year old daughter too imported from the Philippines. While it hasn't been the smoothest of transitions things do seem to be getting better. It is extremely difficult to uproot a girl from the Philippines and bring her here and away from all she knows and trusts in her home country to a place we keep thinking is better in every way. That just isn't so and until we stop thinking that somehow we American's "save" our wife from an impoverished and ungrateful country the better off we are at keeping peace within our own household.

You made the right choice for a wife. Your Filipina wife will take care of you and your children with loving care.

You're lucky to have her. I'm just sad to know that some Filipino women opted to marry a foreigner just to escape poverty here.

Salamat !! --- Yes it's such a sad turn of events and sadly to say those are the marriages here that don't work and the girls have to return to the Phils.

if it was hard for your wife, i'm sure it was hard for her 7-year-old daughter, too, to adjust to a new country, new people, new school.
