TV Review – Bitten Episode 1

Spoiler alerts How can a horror show with werewolves, sex and violence be so dull? A female werewolf without an origin story so far, who has run away from the pack to make her own life gets summoned home to help track down a murderous mutt, or untrained individual werewolf. She spends much of the episode trying to ignore the summons and her own instincts, while caught up in a relationship with a naïve guy who doesn’t even think her late night meanderings are signs of an affair let alone lycanthropy. The heroine’s shrink is conveniently a werewolf too, and the pair strip off to run together. It would have been more interesting to see her account for her behaviour to a non-lycanthropic psychiatrist. The acting is by the numbers, the transformation scenes are old hat now and it was hard to tell which werewolf was which when they were in wolf form. As to the mystery killer mutt, I found I really couldn’t care less. Arthur Chappell
