Black bear? What black bear?

Hubby and I and some friends, went for a ride up the mountains to Pinal Peaks yesterday. The weather was great and it was beautiful there. We saw these big rocks, I had to take a picture of them. Anyway, today I was told that they had to close the road going there, because a big black bear was spotted. What??? Oh my, I'm so glad we didn't see it, that would have scared me to death. But I did see two cute little squirrels. Have you ever run across a bear when you were running around in the mountains?

lovely photo :) i was hopin' to get to palo duro canyon this past weekend myself, but saw the opportunity to get that danged door installed - the latter winnin' out. been some years since i've encountered bears. aint none'n these parts since they aint fond'f grasslands. last time we went campin' (17 years 'go??) there were several'n the area. i was most thankful that i'd chosen not to bring the horses fer that trip!

oh boy that would scare me too. We were tent camping one time and the park ranger came through and told us to put away our dog food. He said There were bears in the area, and it would attract them. yikes!

No, but one day when we were in Florida, we were driving back to our rental house in 3 separate cars. One carload spotted a black bear crossing the road! We missed it!

The only bears I have ever seen were in a zoo and want to keep it that way.

I agree with you, it's much safer that way.
