Which is more interesting comedy or tragedy?

People say comedy enriches one's mind. Tragedy becomes one feel dull. Human life is full of tragedy. So they dont want any more.
But it has been seen, that during 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, the 2 biggest Indian film icons were Raj Kapoor, who was a comedian and Dilip Kumar who was a tragedy King.
It proves that human beings want both tragedy and comedy. Even Shakespeare wrote plays on 2 notes, either tragedy or comedy.
