Like A Small Kid

We often hear people being told to act their age. I remember responding to one who told me the exact same thing, something along the line like “I do not know how to act my age; I have never been this old before!” ? I kid, of course, but I personally think that acting your age is dependent on what the situation is.
When it comes to making life-altering decisions, I would like to decide based on where I am in life at the moment and where I want to be. I try to plan and decide “based on my age”, with wisdom that I have gathered along the way and the diligence and careful considerations through the people I have met. When it comes to having safe and clean fun, sometimes I do not like to act my age. I still want to jump on the trampoline. I still want to play video games. I still want to ride the roller coaster. I still want to have gold fish crackers.
But in reality, we can never go back to being like small kids. We have lots of responsibilities now that we must take, and even step up to. We can never go back to being happy-go-lucky and just depend on our parents for sustenance. We have bills, mortgages, jobs, social obligations, etc. Gone are the days that our sole problem is worrying when our playmate will be allowed to play outside once more.
I want to end this discussion with a passage from a Bible, that says blessed are the little kids for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. And salvation comes to those whose hearts are as pure as the kids’. These may not be the verbatim of the passage, but it brings a strong lesson; that if we humble ourselves, we will be exalted. And those who are being exalted, must humble themselves. Think of a kid’s heart.
