View of the lake

Well, one view, from the top of the stairs where my son and I worked today to clean off the leaves and the eroding soil that comes with these kind of stairs. My neighbors have wooden steps that are separate and though leaves can fall on their steps, because they are off the ground, soil doesn't get washed onto the step. Also, these have not been cleaned up for two years because last year I was focused on finishing my studies. This meant I have a lot of tree trimming, so there was a lot of work involved. And the short path from our backyard to the stairs is really grown up, I'm going to have my husband take the mower through there. So this is a work in progress and I really want my husband to install some steps into the lake so I can jump in when I get too hot from cleaning the yard.

Oh, but doesn't the desert have beautiful plants that I will never see unless I visit? I think the cactus with the bud red flowers are gorgeous.

Nice to hear that I'm not the only one who likes the desert plants @Carmelanirel2 the problem here is we don't have as many beautiful cacti as AZ does.

It seems to be a demanding job. I haven't thought you live so close to the lake. I still remember the picture you uploaded in which there is an egret standing in the water.

@changjiangzhibin89 That sounds relaxing. I remember one time when my son and I walked to the marina and across the dam, it was beautiful.

Oh yes, the egret, which I call a heron, was taken at my neighbor's house. Most people I am in contact with live on the lake like I do and yes, the lake is literally in my backyard.

@MsTickle I don't understand that, when the weather is beautiful, they love to lay outside and can stay out longer if only they would drink from the bowl outside.

Yes, there are fish, but I have no one in my family willing to go fishing for enough fish for dinner. On the other hand, my neighbor loves to go fishing and he catches and cleans enough fish for a crowd. So he freezes the fish and sometimes he gives us some which is really good.
As for the dogs? Nope, they can't stand the water, they won't even drink out of a bowl I place outside, instead they bark to come inside to get a drink.

Don't have the money for one, but if we did have one, it would look a lot better.

I can jump in, it is getting out that would be a problem, especially when my son pointed out poison ivy along the one side of the dock...

@Carmelanirel2 Oh I see. We don't get poison ivy in England, but I know that it's no fun to come into contact with.

@jaboUK Yes, it isn't fun at all. So England has no poison ivy? That is pretty cool, you can go walk in the woods without worrying about running into this awful plant.

I love going swimming, but as for fishing, I only like cooking and eating it, not a fan of catching or cleaning fish, lol However, you are right, my neighbor catches a lot of fish every year

Picturesque! I'm busy trying to clear a spot where there were Alders last year for a vegetable garden. Apparently potatoes will grow real well in that kind of spot. Brutal work though.

Oh, that doesn't sound like fun. The worse I had to remove are the fake honeysuckles, I even got one growing in my berry bushes, but I will wait until I try to take that one out.

Wow what a beautiful view my friend.
Though I would be scared of the height of it.
It is truly lovely a lovely scene.

It isn't so bad, but I am scared going down the steps when they are covered in leaves because as you can tell, some steps are bigger than the others and when covered, I don't know if I am on a small step, or the bigger one.

True, my steps will last longer, except one step has a broken corner from when a tree fell. It would be nice to have a power sprayer to really get the gunk off, but for now, this is what I have.

Oh yeah, especially if someone likes to garden, like I do. And with so many trees, there is a never ending supply of broken branches to cut up and burn. I feel that kind of work is similar to doing dishes, once you got them cleaned, there is another pile waiting to be washed.

Like I told Maria, with all the trees on the lot, it is a never ending job keeping the yard cleaned up.

Oh yeah, my first three spent every summer in this lake, but my youngest has this thing about swimming in water where he can't see the bottom. So he doesn't use it much, but I would if we had a ladder to get back out.
